Visual Art

Visual arts are more than just images—they’re a language that captures emotions, experiences, and stories.
Beren Kiraz, Agneskena and Yema Visuals, each bring their own interpretation of the world, using photography, illustration, and design.

Hello, I am Beren Kiraz, a passionate hobbyist illustrator and all-round creative based in Leuven.

I am a philosopher and visual storyteller by education and a marketing and communications professional by practice. Everything starts with a visual in my mind. Situations, surroundings, people, faces, emotions.
From mood, tone, and character design to framing, I enjoy a sense of movement and visual rhythm.

My main focus is charcoal and portraits. I aim to practice faces and emotions to connect not just through the aesthetics but through the stories they tell. I am constantly exploring new ways to build my skills by drawing inspiration from culture, community, and everyday life.

In the professional setting, I enjoy creating graphics, visual marketing materials, concepts, and campaigns to communicate complex topics, and make our life easier! I am excited to be part of Brussels’ creative community and to share my vision with future collaborators!

What does it mean to me to be a photographer?

It took me years to understand why this form of art is so intimately in tune with me. There is the essence of immortalizing moments, creating memories, building a time capsule, mirroring reality, ...

Then there is the emotional part: Sharing with intention, trusting and embracing your own reflection, the art of letting go and being in the moment, ...

But I would say that for me, as an African woman with a Western upbringing, photography has been like a gift from the heavens.

My love for images has taught me how to bond with people. It has provided me with a platform to tell my own stories and to share the stories of other people. It has given me a greater insight into my heritage and my identity. It has shown me that there's power in the pursuit of your dreams.
