We are renovating our building to make (more) space for the things we care about: for children, for questions and stories, for encounters - for you. What are we planning? What does it mean for you? On this page you will find the latest information.
Practical info
Borrow and return
The borrowing and return station have moved temporarily to the other side Agora 0 (opposite of the entrance).
Collectie in de kijker
You can find the Collectie in de kijker: Untold Asian Stories on floor +2.
New arrivals
Newly arrived titels go straight to their place in the collection.
Online newspapers and magazines
The tablets in the Agora are temporarily unavailable. You can read newspapers and magazines online in the study room on +3, on your own device (via the Muntpunt Wi-Fi), or from home via the newspaper archive (two days after publication).
Muntpunt makes space...
…for children
To grow, you need space — both literally and figuratively. Space to learn, to explore, and to play. Muntpunt wants to be a place where children are given the chance to grow. That’s why our kids library is getting more room. It’s becoming even bigger, even cosier.
…for questions
Seek, and you might just find in Muntpunt. Here, you can find answers to questions about living, working, learning, and life in Brussels. About smartphones, computers, and the digital world. To help as many people as possible, we’re making our information desks more accessible, more visible, and more welcoming.
…for stories
At Muntpunt, stories come in many forms. In books and films, of course – on paper or digital. There are the stories you hear on stage or during activities. And there are the stories visitors share with one another. We make space for all of them — to share, to read, and to experience.
…for encounters
Muntpunt wants to be a place where people connect. Where visitors meet up, communities take shape, and organisations collaborate. A place where ideas intersect and perspectives come together. That’s why we’re creating a space that invites, embraces, and brings people together.
…for you
There’s a place for you at Muntpunt. Whether you come for the quiet or the company, to relax or to work, to read or to play, to attend an event or organise one yourself. As a visitor, a community, or an organisation... Muntpunt gives you all the space you need – space to make something happen.
Plans
WELKOMBALIE
Welcome to Muntpunt! A new piece of furniture is here to make sure everyone feels warmly welcomed – kids or wheelchair users too, you know. At the welcome desk, we’re happy to help with your questions about the library or the city.
INFOCENTRUM
Ask us your questions about living, working, learning, and life in Brussels. We welcome you at our table for personal support and to search for answers together.
KRANTENHOEK
The latest national and international newspapers and magazines, every day. To stay fully up to date or simply to flip through while you take a break.
TRIBUNE
The crown jewel of the renovation! An impressive wooden and steel tribune with 80 seats and a view of the city. To meet one another and give voices, stories, and ideas the stage they deserve.
ATELIER
A large workshop space for children, with little tables for crafting, building, learning and experimenting. The kids library is growing by no less than 96 m2!
TAPIJT
122 m2 of soft carpets to play on, read on, or simply lie down and dream. Together with giant curtains, they also help soften the (cheerful) noise in the kids library.
CLUBS
Settle into one of the clubs. These seats make working more pleasant, talking softer, and relaxing with a book extra comfortable.
LEESLAMP
A cosy lounge among the books. For activities and enjoyable reading.
DIGIPUNT
A new desk for first aid with digital questions. Got a question about your smartphone, tablet or the digital world? Need help using the computers in the study room? Our digital support team is here to help!
STILTERUIMTE
To read, reflect, meditate, or simply reconnect with yourself – in all tranquility.
PLANTEN
They’re not just beautiful and healthy! Greenery in the building has a proven calming effect – and boosts creativity too.
RECYCLAGE
Nothing goes to waste! Our carpenter recycles the wood from the old furniture to build new pieces.
